It's the final stretch leading up to the June 16 Primary Election. Join us on Wednesday, June 10 at Indian Capital Technology Center from 12-1:30 p.m. for a casual Meet & Greet with political candidates seeking to serve as Wagoner County Commissioner in District 3 and District 1 and State Representative in State House District 12.

We anticipate there will be some candidates in the Congressional District 1 race attending as well.

This will simply be a meet and greet and candidates will each have a brief moment at the microphone. Please come expecting to visit with them individually if you have specific questions you would like to address with them. 

This event is open to the public.

Come downtown to the Coweta OK Broadway District to support Paws On The Patio, a pet adoption event in front of 1843 on Broadway. There, you will meet pets brought by the Coweta Animal Shelter and Golden Retrievers brought by A Touch of Grace Golden Retriever Rescue of Northeastern Oklahoma who need to be adopted and are looking for forever homes.

Bubbles & Cuts staff will be on site to offer free services for the pups that include nail trims, airbrushing and temporary tattoos.

Downtown Paw Spa is offering a certificate good for a free bath and nail trim for any dog that is adopted. The business is also sponsoring an adoption fee for one shelter dog.

Come a little early from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and enjoy the June Coweta Street Market, put on by the Coweta Chamber's Downtown Activities Committee. The market is set up in the 100 block of West Sycamore and will feature a wide variety of business entrepreneurs!

Coweta's Patriotic Festival returns with a bang to celebrate our nation's 250th birthday! The fun begins at 2 p.m. with activities, music, food and fireworks.

The City of Coweta and Coweta Public Works Authority will host their annual Trash-Off Event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coweta Sports Complex. 

Items that will NOT be accepted include:

• Loose Trash
• Hazardous Waste
• Chemicals
• Any Kind of Paint
• Petroleum Products
• Tires
• Batteries
• Propane Bottles
• Construction Debris
• Appliance that contains a refrigerant (typically any appliance that cools).

A second Trash-Off Event for SCRAP METAL ONLY will be held on July 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cottonwood Park on 151st Street west of Division Street.

All area businesses are invited and encouraged to attend.

Guest speakers will include representatives with the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Wagoner County Economic Development, Indian Capital Technology Center and Muscogee Creek Nation Employment Services.

Hosting this session will be the Coweta Chamber of Commerce, Wagoner Area Chamber of Commerce, Indian Capital Technology Center and Wagoner County Economic Development.

Lunch will be provided, therefore pre-registration is required. Deadline to reserve your seat is Wednesday, Aug. 12.
