Our chamber partners with the Coweta Ministerial Alliance will commemorate National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5, with two special prayer gatherings in Coweta.
Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Pastor Maurice Hatton said the first prayer time will be held at 8:15 a.m. at the Coweta Education Service Center, 14540 S. 302nd E. Ave. The second is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. at the Coweta Police Department and Coweta Fire Department, 212 N. Broadway.
National Day of Prayer, held annually on the first Thursday in May, calls on all people of different faiths throughout the United States to pray for the nation and its leaders. The designation was established in the United States decades ago through the hard work and efforts of the late Dr. Bill and Vonette Bright, Coweta natives, who founded the Campus Crusade for Christ organization.
Organizers say there will seven different areas of prayer focus: Family, Church, Business, Education, Military, Government and for Arts, Entertainment and Media.
All area residents, business owners and community leaders are invited and encouraged to attend.
